Memphis is located along the Mississippi River in southwestern Tennessee. The 2017 city population was 652,236,] and an urbanite area population of 1,348,260.[6] The city is the anchor of West Tennessee River and the greater Mid-South region, which includes portions of neighboring Arkansas and Mississippi. Memphis is the seat of Shelby County, the most populous county in Tennessee. As one of the most historical and cultural cities of the southern United States, the city features a wide kind of landscapes and distinct localities.

The first European explorer to visit the area of present-day Memphis was Spanish conquistador Hernando de Soto in 1541 with his expedition into the New World. The high bluffs protecting the placement from the waters of the Mississippi River would then be contested between the Spanish, French, and the English as Memphis took shape. Modern Memphis was founded in 1819 by three high Americans: John Overton, James Winchester, and future chairman Andrew Jackson.

2. National Civil Rights Museum information and General Admission Fees

The National Civil Rights Museum is a complex of museums and historic buildings in Memphis, Tennessee; its exhibits trace the history of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States from the 17th hundred to the present. The depositary is built approximately the former Lorraine Motel, which was the site of the assassination of civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. on April 4, 1968. Two other buildings and their adjacent property, also connected with the King assassination, have been acquired as part of the museum complex.

The Memphis Zoo, located in Midtown, Memphis, Tennessee, United States, is home to more than 3,500 creatures representing over 500 different species.
